If You Think You Can’t Win The Lottery – You’re In For A Shock!

Every so often we come across an article on the internet entitled something along the lines of, “Things more likely to happen than winning the Mega Millions jackpot,” or “You didn’t win the Mega Millions – Good.” These articles are extremely negative and more than likely written by people who never take the chance in the first place. If you, like most online lottery players, surround yourself with positivity, hope and the belief that you are winner, then this article is for you. For those that are still on the fence – carry on reading, you will be a believer in no time!

You can win the lottery

The dream can come true

Whether you play the lottery or not, people all over the world like to dream about winning the lottery.

According to some people there are a few things that are more likely to happen than winning the Mega Millions jackpot – here’s how we prove that for every negative opinion we have an actual lottery winner:

Getting arrested

According to a stats “there is a 1-in-3 chance that you could be arrested before the age of 23.” Quite frankly, that just sounds like you are surrounding yourself with people you should not be around in the first place.

As playing the lottery is a game of chance, you need to know that people do win and even though the odds may be slightly high. Even the naysayers will have to agree that someone always wins the whole jackpot eventually.

$1.586 billion Powerball jackpot winners

In January 2016, three winning tickets won the biggest lottery jackpot in history.

The winners were John and Lisa Robinson in Tennessee, Maureen Smith and David Kaltschmidt in Florida and Marvin and Mae Acosta in California. They split the jackpot prize, winning $533 million each.

The Robinsons’ winning ticket was one of four they bought at a grocery store. They opted to take the lump sum. “We’re not guaranteed tomorrow,” says John.

Florida-based Smith and Kaltschmidt also picked the lump sum. At the time they planned to get massages, upgrade their truck and retire with the newfound wealth.

The Acostas remained anonymous for months after winning, but released a statement saying they were thankful for the “rare gift that has been placed in our care.”

Becoming an astronaut

Some say you have a better chance of becoming an astronaut than winning the lottery. In 2016, 18,300 people applied to become an astronaut with a 1-in-2,000 chance of getting into the program. Frankly, I would rather become a lottery winner. Yes, we know the odds are hard to beat but, that didn’t stop Stefan Mandel. For those who have never heard of him, he’s a Romanian immigrant who had a knack of letting the lottery know who’s boss. Mandel spent years developing a secret formula that, supposedly, guaranteed him a 100% chance of winning. And you know what? It actually worked 14 times and across 4 countries!

Winning an Oscar

They say you stand a better chance of winning an Oscar, than winning the lottery. But although you might be nominated, the chances you'll take home one of those golden statuettes is 1-in-11,500.

Here at, we too have a selection of Lottery Oscar awards:

The awards go to:

  • This week’s biggest overall cash prize is the Mega Millions currently standing at a whopping $418 million.
  • Our award for best supporting role is the exceptional US Powerball standing at a huge $325 million.
  • In third place, but no stranger to the red carpet is the SuperEna Max jackpot showing off with a very tidy €284 million.

Being awarded the Medal of Honour

To win the Medal of Honour, which is the highest award for valour in action against an enemy force that can be given to someone serving in the Armed Forces you will have to beat the odds of 1-in-11,000.

Struck by lightning

The internet is strewn with jokes that you stand a better chance to be struck by lightning than winning the lottery. Tell that to Peter McCathie who survived being hit by lightning and winning the lottery! If you combine both these extraordinary events, they come to about a 1 in 2.6 trillion chance.

Being killed by venomous plant or animal

They say you have a better chance of being killed by a venomous animal or plant but as unbelievable as it sounds, there are players out there who have won the lottery more than 100 times. These amazing lottery winners have defied the odds racking up thousands, if not millions in winnings over time. Ask Clarence W. Jones, a self-proclaimed “professional gambler” who has won over 10,000 times!

Dating a supermodel

According to a fashion magazine, a person has a 1-in-88,000 of dating a supermodel.

What would you do if you won the lottery? It’s a hypothetical question that literally every single lottery player has at one point in time asked themselves. Hitting the jackpot can open a world of possibilities, whether it’s buying a new house, starting their own dream business.

Whatever your professional dreams, lottery winners then move on to slightly more fun times, like a round-the-world trip or purchasing a brand new mansion. But once all the big purchases have been made, there are winners that immediately improve their appearance too. Of course, based on how well you can deal with extreme wealth, there are those who gradually just seem to look more and more radiant.

Becoming a YouTuber

It's can be hard to imagine making tons of money recording themselves on YouTube playing video games or giving make-up tutorials and reviews. But one of YouTube's top earners is 7-year-old Ryan Kaji, who does toy reviews and made $22 million in 2018, according to Forbes.

Chances that you'll hit it big on YouTube — 1-in-505,347. But if you do, remember, you will more than likely have to compete with someone who is a lot younger than you and strangely enough knows a lot more about the industry than you do.

Millennial Wins Big

In this day and age more and more Millennials are playing the lottery and naturally their play option by choice is to buy a lottery ticket online. We just have to look at 20-year-old Shane Missler from Port Richey, Florida who was the sole winner of the $450 million Mega Millions jackpot. Like most winners, he chose the lump sum option, taking home $281,874,999.00 after taxes. He immediately took to social media to celebrate his incredible lottery win.

It’s the ultimate fantasy: Walk into a store, plunk down a dollar, and with nothing but luck—really extraordinary luck—you win a massive life-changing lottery jackpot. Suddenly, you’re rich as a sultan with enough money to buy your favourite sports team or your own island.

So, forget about those negative people that say you can’t and remember all those lottery players who took the chance and won big!
